ROTARY OBLIGATIONS & BENEFITS

SERVICE ABOVE SELF

Rotary was not long to recognize that fellowship alone would not keep a group together. There needed to be a purpose. The first service project was public rest rooms in downtown Chicago, IL, USA. Rotary became the world’s first service club.

OBLIGATIONS

Participation: To be a Rotarian you must give of your time and talents:

  • in community work
  • in fellowship and social functions
  • in club and district activities.
ATTENDANCE

Attendance at the weekly meeting is a benefit of Rotary. A minimum of 60% is expected. “You can easily maintain your attendance levels by making up at another Rotary club meeting, participating in Club service projects, and activities.”

  • Genuine and good fellowship – Enlightenment as to other person’s work, problems and success
  • Education in methods that increase efficiency
  • Stimulations of one’s desire to be of service to his fellowship and society in general
  • Developing a new outlook of one’s own business or profession. Seeing it as a service to the community rather than that an instrument of private gain.
